How skip counting builds each table, one worked example step by step, and 5 questions to try. No timer, no account.
What it means
Multiplying is counting equal groups. 6 × 4 means 4 groups of 6. The fast way is to skip count in 6s, once for each group. Every times table is just skip counting with its own step size, from the table of 2 up to the table of 12.
Worked example: 6 × 4
- 16 × 4 means 4 groups of 6.
- 2Skip count in 6s, once for each group.
- 36, 12, 18, 24.
- 4Four jumps of 6 land on 24.
4 jumps, one for each group of 6.
So 6 × 4 = 24.
